It’s a beautiful interpretation of indie-pop, with more than a drop of twee in there for good mix and some shoegaze inspired guitar work thrown in for good measure. It’s wonderful, and it won’t fail to put a smile on your face. They describe it themselves as ‘bubblegum’ or music for a summer picnic. Don’t you miss summer? The fine Indonesian bubblegum-flavoured indiepop band Annemarie have announced that they are in the process of recording their second album, and this is great news! I loved their debut “ABC on TV”, and the new album is something I am definitely looking forward to. Seems that Java’s greatest indie pop band Annemarie are on an extended hiatus. Pity because if anyone could wrestle back the indie pop crown it was this collective. Annemarie seems perfect for a twee pop band. And there is some very sweet pop stuff happening here with the plaintive female vocal giving way to the tobacco-burred sounds of the male voice. Those of you missing the more twee aspects of Belle and Sebastian should heed this band- Six Eyes
